n/one
Creative Process
A Journey of Design and Meaning
The idea of designing, creating or building something from your home—for you, and perhaps others—is beautiful. And just like an artist signing their canvas, I wanted to label my clothing. That's when the concept of n/one came to life.
The design and naming process for n/one was an interesting journey. I wanted to highlight the uniqueness—and occasional imperfections—of each piece. My first idea was Sample nº1, but I couldn’t shake the association with the iconic Chanel nº5. That wasn’t the positioning I wanted for my personal clothing brand. So, I went back to the drawing board.
Perhaps nºone? By playing with the logo design, I eventually arrived at n/one [pronounced /nʌn/]. n/one, because this brand isn’t really one. When today’s fashion codes tell us to wear, impersonate, and embody brands, I choose none when wearing my own creations.
